What Does "Discovering" Mean to Me? What Does `Discovery` Mean? Everybody has a different thought on what discovery means. I think discovery means to find things that are hard to find or something that is rare. You can discover anything you want in the world. Discovery can also mean finding something no one has ever seen. In my picture, I am looking at animals and plants outside. I am also having fun! To discover all you have to do is go outside and try your best. That is what discovery means to me.

What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game?
I researched an arcade game called Frizzle Fraz to find out how to make a good arcade game. It works very well and does everything you tell it to do. This is supported by Camadro, Inc. The object of Frizzle Fraz is to find the keys to unlock the brown door to go to the next level. Use the arrow-keys to move Frizzle Fraz, a purple fuzz ball. You can jump by pressing the space bar. You also have to collect keys and smaller colorful frizzles. You have to avoid the purple and blue fish. The rules are at the bottom of the screen and at the beginning of the game. If I could rate it I would give it a two out of four. You win the game by collecting all of the keys. You get extra points if you collect smaller Frizzle Fraz. If you win you move to the next level.
To build this game you might use one big purple pompom, lots of small colorful pompoms, a brown piece of paper, and toy fish. To build it I think it would cost $15, to buy it about $20.
To find this game go to this URL address:
http://www.freearcade.com/FrizzleFraz.flash/FrizzleFraz.html. Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game? The name of our game is Go Stop It! You play the game by using the stopper and trying to get it in the smallest hole at the end of the game while trying to avoid falling in the holes. The rules will be on a separate piece of paper on the side of the game. If we could rate our game it would probably be 4 out of a 1- 4 scale (4 is the most difficult). You win the game by trying to get to the bottom of the game and by not falling in any holes or ending up in any dead ends. If you win the game and fall in the small hole you get to choose your prize, and if you fall in the medium hole you get a bouncy ball. Finally, if you fall in the big hole you get 10 cents.
Our blueprint has 3 parts: a front, top, and a side. On the top there are 2 boxes and a part of cardboard. On the side you also see 2 boxes and 2 strips of cardboard. On the front you see a path with some holes and dead ends on the game.
You would need cardboard, bouncy balls, scissors, masking tape, a clothes hanger, and a part of a Coke bottle to build this game. I would think it might take about 3 weeks. The problems that might happen with our game are that people will not go fast enough. Another problem with our game is that it might just not follow the paths. Examiner: Mr. And Mrs. Angelos

Praise: Lot of imagination; Challenging use of both hands/ dexterity
Question: How can you make it simpler and easier to win the game?
Polish: Adjust the incline/ decline to slow the ball down. Could you use a ping pong ball?
Student Comment: Thank you, I am glad you like our game, Go Stop It! We tried to make a tricky and original game. We made the game more winnable by making the ball go slower. We did this by making the board go straight. We decided to try a marble, but it did not work. We also decided that a ping pong ball would go even faster than a bouncy ball. Since we made the ball slower it makes the game more winnable.
Examiner: Ms. Pinkard (the 1st winner)
Date: Jan. 31, 2013
Praise: I really like that you thought of your own game and that you made it difficult!
Question: Could you use a different ball to make the game more “winnable?”
Polish: You could make the ball track more colorful so that the player can see where the ball goes.
Student Comment: Thank you, our game, Go Stop It!, is definitely very hard to win. We tried to think of an original and tricky game. Yes, we could use a different ball. We decided to try a marble, but it did not work. Instead, we decided to raise the bottom so that the ball will go slower. We were going to make our game colorful with green and orange paper, but we ran out of time. We also tried to make the signs colorful.
Examiner: Mr. Holgate
Date: Jan 29, 2013
Praise: Well thought out and designed project. It’s very obvious they have improved and altered the design to make it work better. It is a lot of fun and challenging.
Question: How can you make it a little bit easier? Do you want to raise the top? Have you ever thought of using a ping pong ball? Could you have a different paddle?
Polish: Make it a little easier right now, people will get frustrated too quickly. Make it more clearly on how many attempts people get and what counts as a drop/miss ball.
Student Comment: Thank you; I am glad you like our game, Go Stop It! We tried to make our game fun and challenging. Your comments are very helpful. We can make it easier to win by lifting the bottom more up. We do not want to raise the top. We have thought of using a ping pong ball but it would be light and would go too fast. No, we do not want to use a different paddle because it would be way too hard. We try to give tips to younger kids on how to win easier. We will try to make it clearer on how many tries you get to win.

Make It Better How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Guiding Question: How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Reflection on Project
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
We could make our game, Go Stop It!, better by putting colored paper on the board so that you can see the path better.
Specifically, how would we do this?
We would do this by putting colored paper next to the path that the ball goes down so that you can see the path.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned that when you make something it might take longer than you thought it should take.
What do you know now that you didn’t know before doing the Project?
I now know that I can make a game out of just a few materials.
What can you do now that you couldn’t before doing this project?
I can now build an arcade game out of cardboard, tape, 2 coke bottles, and 2 clothes hangers.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
I liked having a partner to help me. Also Mr. May did not help us except cutting and supplying us with materials.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
I think it would help to have more materials and time.
A Final Reflection:
Our game, Go Stop It!, turned out really well. We could make our game, Go Stop It!, better by putting colored paper on the board so that you can see the path better. We would do this by putting colored paper next to the path that the ball goes down so that you can see the path. We built this game by cutting circles in the cardboard and making a handle. We wanted to have an original game so we came up with Go Stop It! We built our game by taking two boxes and taping them to part of a big box. We also cut holes in the big box and made a handle. It was very hard to make and stressful. Our box almost broke a couple times. We were worried that we would not finish in time. I never knew that I could make a game out of cardboard. I liked having a partner to help. I can now make an arcade game out of limited materials. I am glad that our game turned out great! Crusie Arcade Game Presentation - Gaming Week:
